This May, Frieze New York returns to the Shed at Hudson Yards, featuring 60 galleries across three floors. Solo presentations abound, including Jack Whitten at Hauser & Wirth and Nan Goldin at Gagosian. David Kordansky gallery showcases Lauren Halsey, known for her Met rooftop installation. Tehran's Dastan gallery highlights five female artists, addressing challenges faced by Iranian women. Tiwani Contemporary makes its Frieze debut with Emma Prempeh in the Focus section. The LG OLED lounge spotlights digital art, featuring NFT artist Six N. Five. Jessica Vaughn wins the inaugural Frieze Artadia prize for her impactful work, "The Internet of Things," addressing societal issues. Frieze also champions social responsibility through the Artist Plate Project, which offers limited-edition artists’ plates at $250 each that can feed up to 100 people.

Ole Aakjaer | Influenza
Danish artist Ole Aakjaer culminates his stay in New York City with the exhibition “Influenza” at the Chase Contemporary. His new body of work comprises vibrant watercolors, large-scale collages, is his tribute to the artists who influenced him and to the street art of the city, from where he drew his inspiration. Society photographer Annie Watt had her annual exhibition at the Colony Hotel in Palm Beach. The event was a fundraiser for the Palm Beach Police Department, and Iris Apfel was the guest of honor. Over 200 guests attended the party, among them, her friends from New York and Palm Beach. Their black and white portraits in the Solarium were offered in exchange for donations to the PBPD. The Wetenhalls, current owners of the Colony Hotel provided wine and appetizers for the party, which was hosted by famed restaurateur Robert Caravaggi of the Swifty's. Ukrainian artist Tatyana Horoshko from Brooklyn, NY, hand-delivered her painting of Iris Apfel to the honoree. April 18, 2023 Palm Beach, Fla.
Art Basel Miami Beach 2022
This year, Art Basel Miami Beach is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Over 280 galleries are participating in the fair. Ursula Casamonti of Tornabuoni Art gave me a tour of her booth, which is dedicated to the Italian art of the 20th century. One of the distinctions of the Miami edition is a big presence of Latin American galleries. Meet Dan Galeria and Nara Roesler, both from Brazil, which are showcasing artists from different countries of the continent.
Paris+ par Art Basel 2022
In October, Art Basel launched its inaugural fair in Paris. It's called Paris+ par Art Basel. The fair was held in the temporary venue, Grand Palais Éphémère, in place of FIAC, the French contemporary art fair, that used to take place in this time slot. Over 1/3 of the participating 156 galleries are based in France per the agreement between Grand Palais Management Company and Murdoch's MCH Group, the owner of Art Basel. I had a chance to meet two European galleries - Zeno X from Antwerp and Applicat-Prazan from Paris. Nina Hendrickx of Zeno X Gallery introduced a group of Belgian contemporary artists presented at their stand. Franck Prazan of Applicat-Prazan talked about their solo exhibition of Georges Mathieu. And finally, I visited the outdoor sector of the fair, called The Sites, which showcased large-scale works on Place Vendôme and Jardin des Tuileries. Paris, France October 20-22, 2022
